Adrian Steele
Adrian has been surrounded by music and the piano since a very early age. Gaining his grade 8 piano while still at school, he pursued it as a hobby until settling on a career as a piano technician. Adrian has been in the piano trade since 1986 and after having completed a three year full time course at the UK’s leading college, he was runner-up in a National tuning competition, winning the Bluthner cup for tuning in 1989.
He started work in London for a large piano firm and left in 1997 to establish Adrian Steele Pianos Ltd and began to build a successful piano tuning and restoration business.
He has worked as part of the piano maintenance team at the Royal Academy of Music since 2001 and looks after the piano stock at Imperial College, Harrow School, Canterbury Cathedral, Junior Kings Canterbury, Kings School’s performance pianos among many others. The sales aspect of the business includes brokering and supplying new instruments as well as stocking a selection of used upright and grand pianos.
